Week 5: Natural Beauty Hair (Beach Hair)

In this lesson we learnt how to create beach waves and how styling the hair in looks previously taught can change the overall style of the look with a beach finish.

Equipment:
Hair dryer
Diffuser

Products:
Mouse
Hair Spray
Sea Salt Spray

Beach Waves

Step 1: Taking the model straight from the basin, mouse the hair all over using a scrunching motion. Taking the hair dryer lift blow dry the roots, spray salt spray through the hair to give a rougher texture if needed.

Step 2: Taking the hairdryer with the diffuser, if you don't have asses to a diffuser use hand like a claw and grab the hair. Place hair into the diffuser to gain the beach texture, if hair is stubborn give it a scrunch.

Step 3: Ask your model to tip there head forward to do the top sections, tucking the hair into the diffuser as you go.
Using this messy texture we now created our previous styles and saw the effect this had on them i created the plaits and found that the messy texture gave the look a more relaxed beach style.

Week 4: Plaiting For Fashion

Looking at plaits in fashion, different styles and techniques also how to make a plait or any hair style look messy/fly aways used a lot in editorial fashion.

1- Wiggle Plait
Plait the hair as normal take one strand of the three strand plait and push up the other two strands to gather the hair. Tie into place or pin depending on the style.

2- Waterfall Plait
The model will have to help with this plait to hold the strands in place to keep the style very neat.
French plait (plait, plait) then drop the underneath strand get the model to hold this strand and (plait, plait) again. Repeat this plait off to secure it.

If you want to do this style from each side of the head, then join in the middle.

3- Ladder Plait
After you have completed the waterfall plait this is the start to the ladder plait, using the french plait technique pick up the dropped strands and include these into the plait but only these.
4- Slip Tie Knot
These plait you'll have to get your model to help hold the strands, separate the section into two and knot, place in between the models ring finger and middle finger. Do this to one more section again placing in your models fingers.
Section the hair again and bring in the front knotted section into the section and knot then move up the hair placed in the fingers and repeat.
To finish you can either carry on knotting or plait and tuck under and pin.

Week 3: Accessorise Hair

Looking at the use of accessorise in the hair also creating a basic Chignon style this style is very versatile and can be used for weddings on large parties can either be used on young girls or older women easterly be adaptable to more complex style using plaits or pin curls.

pin tail comb
Soft large brush
pins
bun pins

Products:
Hairspray

Low Chignon
Step 1:  Section hair in to desired parting (side, middle) and section from behind the ears and clip out of the way. taking the back section and either adding lift to the top section or leaving flat to the head brush hair into tight low pony tail and tie into place.

Step 2: Back comb this pony tail and bring over into a curve and pin into place at each side. Using a bun pin manipulate the hair round to back of the head and bun pin at each side and at the top if necessary. Using your hands apply hair spray to them and stroke down any fly away hairs to give a clean finish.

Step 3: Taking the front sections either twist around to the back or plait and adjust upon desired look pinning into place.

Tip- if the hair is very heavy or thick using a hair net tuck hair in this will hold the shape and in images will not be visible.

We used accessorise to create different looks with the style. my favourite look was using the jewellery down the centre parting this was simple but effective with the parting and twists.
